Patrolling Irrigation Ditches.
- Form:Replica
- Category:Manikin
The two individuals in the exhibit are standing on either side of the water canal staring at each other and holding clubs in their hands. There exists a very close relationship between paddy rice cultivation and water, and thus the use of water often sparked disputes, and even violence.
Certain folk beliefs were often connected with the irrigation areas, and thus religious and economic interests fostered the formation of highly autonomous organizations among the public. However, this also sometimes led people from nearby areas to form larger, more united groups .
