Struggling Indigenous People

Following the successive arrival of Han Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, and Spaniards, Taiwan’s relatively stable indigenous societies experienced a degree of disturbance. Encountering these outsiders, each indigenous tribe selected from among them allies who could benefit them, while also engaging in conflicts with opposing forces. There were also conflict between foreign groups.
